VM Operations Center Technician - Englewood, CO

Equity Staffing Group is hiring a technical Enterprise Operations Center technician with an emphasis on VM machines. This individual will provide system and operations support in a 24x7X365 NOC. This team is responsible for monitoring and Tier 1 diagnostics and escalation of operational issues including initial triage and information gathering for support resources and establishment of communications. This includes hardware, operating systems and applications and will leverage industry standard monitoring tools and techniques to identify solutions to technology-related issues.

Responsibilities
• Monitor VM Servers, physical Servers and Storage Array utilizing standard tools including but not limited to Remedy and ServiceNOW products
• Monitor and control the status, operability and performance of the remote VM environment.
• Serve as primary initial responder within the Enterprise Operations team in notification, identifying, and providing troubleshooting for VM Servers
• Foundational understanding of operational best practices for VM systems based on ITIL (incident management, change management, configuration management).
• Create and maintain process and templates for documentation
• Follow department guidelines and procedures to ensure effective process management, while providing quick and accurate problem resolution for a variety of user problems.
• Ensure SLA’s are met for the systems.
• Escalate incidents to Technician 2 or Tier 2 Engineers as needed.
• Recommend operational and procedural changes to improve quality of service
• Provide 24x7x365 staff rotation at the data center facility.
• Maintain a solid working relationship with multiple infrastructure and development teams.
• Work closely with Engineering and project teams to deploy new solutions and technologies and ensure solutions are operationally ready.
• Support customer requests with courtesy, efficiency and technical expertise

Top 3 Skills:
1. VMWare/ VCenter Knowledge
2. HP/Dell Server hardware experience
3. Strong Customer Service experience, ability to communicate technically to non-Technical folks

Qualifications
• Experience with VMWare VCenter
• Experience managing alerts using tools such as SCOM, PAN, SIM, Xymon, Remedy BPPM, HP Openview, etc.
• Basic understanding of Windows Server fundamentals, networking protocols and storage
• Scripting skills preferred (PowerShell, WMI, VBScript, ADSI, DOS shell, bash, ksh)
• Foundational technical documentation experience
• Commitment to quality, customer service and team environment
• Ability to effectively build relationships with customers, peers and leadership
• Must have effective oral and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to organize and prioritize work
• High School diploma required; advanced technical degrees preferred.
• Previous NOC experience preferred.
• Must be available to work non-standard business hours and varying shift assignments
