Junior Telecommunications Engineer - Lenexa, KS

Major responsibilities for the Telecommunications Engineer will include:
• Assist with the scope, estimate, plan and design of utility based Telecom systems
• Develop documents, drawings / diagrams, specifications, and testing procedures under the guidance of a senior engineer
• Develop configurations for network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, multiplexers, radios, and other field equipment utilizing client standards.
• Design networks using fiber optics, microwave, radio, or leased services utilizing client standards.
• Create bills of material for Telecommunication equipment and verify field installations
• Assist with writing project scope(s), sequencing plans, client roadmaps, and budgets
• Travel to the job site as needed to gather information and to coordinate with the client
• Work with others to stage and plan installation and commissioning
• Respond to information requests from the client
• Work with the project manager to establish project schedule and coordinate with the engineering team
• Provide guidance and instruction to engineers in other disciplines
• Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or similar from an accredited program
• 2 years of design experience on communication systems
• Capable of applying knowledge of telecommunication and IP networking principles
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated, yet a team player
• Flexibility to work in related business lines if required
• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
• Previous utility company experience is optional
