Essential Job Functions:
Create timely, detailed and accurate electrical estimates for bid proposals based on design drawings and construction plans:
Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing
Secure quotes from multiple vendors and subcontractors in a timely manner
Utilize estimating software to create estimates (Accubid preferred)
Three times a month generate and track accurate monthly project billing and invoicing, three times a month (PayApps, ProCore)
Track costs and labor for assigned projects
Maintain and update Estimating database and tracker
Manage submittals for assigned projects
Work with Residential and Commercial Managers as required in order to maximize bid accuracy
Work with Upper Management to discuss bid strategy and planning
Draft necessary paperwork: bid proposals, bid time & material estimates, change orders
Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Effective time management, budget, estimating, and planning skills absolutely critical
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and meet deadlines
Ability to work on and with a team
Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical individuals
Ability to create, manipulate, and read blueprints and drawings
Knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques
Knowledge of electrical design
Technical understanding of electrical construction
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Analytical and critical thinking skills
Demonstrated knowledge of estimating software (Accubid preferred)
Demonstrated knowledge of the NEC
Strong computer skills (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
Strong oral and written communication skills; including technical writing skills
Ability to learn through observation and hands on experience
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to gather data, compile information, and make reports
Ability to work and make decisions with minimal supervision
Education and Experience:
3 -5 years of electrical estimating experience
2- 4 years of project management experience a strong positive but not required
Coursework or degree in construction management, electrical engineering, project management or like degree a plus but not required.
